Genzyme (UK) required a monitoring system for the fridge, freezer and laboratory enclosures at one of their Kent sites, that included monitoring functions, data logging functions, an HMI and new system enclosures as well as a telephone autodialler in the event of alarms.
The solution implemented was to use a Eurotherm 6180XIO graphic chart recorder to monitor and log 27 laboratory asset temperatures acquired by distributed Eurotherm Mini8 controllers. The data is stored to 21CFR part11 standards.

The Mini8s are distributed about the plant in wall mounted enclosures, configured and wired for 3-wire RTD inputs, to acquire the measured asset temperatures. This data is fed back to the 6180 via an Ethernet link.
In the event that an assets temperature exceeds set limits, an automatic alarm will be telephoned to nominated personnel, either on or off the plant.
The 6180XIO has a high definition 12.1” touch screen, that is panel mounted in the front door of the enclosure. This HMI provides an integrated interface to the monitored measured values from the plant, showing numerical data and trends in real time and historically.
A PC running the REVIEW package is used to access the real time and historical data remotely.
